Dr. John R. Day, 85, of Peoria, passed away at 3:09 am on Saturday, June 22, 2024, at the OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria after a brief illness.
He was born on October 18, 1938, in Philadelphia, PA, the only child of the late Elmer and Madeline Nethery Day. Following his marriage to Sharon Sakash, they divorced but managed to maintain a close relationship.
Surviving are one daughter, Julie Barnes of Peoria, and two granddaughters, Tanner Barnes and Finnley Barnes.
Dr. Day founded John R. Day & Associates in 1974. His doctorate is in clinical psychology from the University of Illinois. He provided therapy services for children, adolescents, and adults. He also administered forensic evaluations and health and wellness evaluations. Dr. Day specialized in behavioral medicine, clinical hypnosis, sexual therapy, and addiction treatment. Dr. Day practiced from 1971 to 2024.
