Luis G. Fernandez, 86, of Morton, passed away Tuesday, August 13, 2024, at his home. He was born on July 22, 1938, in Yureuaro, Michoacan, Mexico to Ramon and Maria (Gomez) Fernandez. Luis married Esther Alcala on December 23, 1962 in Yureuaro, Michoacan, Mexico. She preceded him in death on June 30, 2023. Also preceding him in death were two brothers and three sisters. Luis is survived by his daughters, Leticia (Ron) Fernandez – Ranson, Anna (Brian) Rose both of Morton and Maria Fernandez of Chicago; grandchildren, Monica Ranson, Annalyssa Alvarez, Aaron Alvarez, Katie Alvarez, Matthew (Brittney) Rose, Maggie (Matthew) Ray, Mitchell Rose, Maryn Rose; Great Grandchildren, Dawson Allison, Connor Rose, Aiden Rose and Lyle Ray; brother, Jose Gomez of Mexico. Luis worked for the Field Museum in Chicago for many years. Cremation rites have been accorded. Services and innichement of cremated remains will take place at a later date at Cristo Ray Catholic Church in Yurecuaro, Michoacan, Mexic
