Shirla June "Junie" Joos, 87, of Washington, IL died peacefully at 5:02 pm Saturday, March 1, 2025 at her home.
Born on February 22, 1938 in Peoria, IL to James A. and Dorothy A. Burton Thomas, she married Frederick G. Joos Jr. on September 6, 1959 at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Washington, IL. He survives.
Also surviving are 3 daughters; Lori (Jim) Maddock of Winter Garden, FL, Annette (Brian) Carson of Yorkville, IL and Mindy (Tim) Cheatham of Washington, IL, 1 sister; Pat Essig of Aledo, IL, 8 grandchildren; Caitlyn (Brock) Maddock-Bahr, Carly Maddock (Benji Cashdollar), Cody (Megan Hand) Maddock, Kyle (Christina Carstens) Swanson, Brett (Sarah Walker) Swanson, Scott (Jade) Swanson, Nick Bell and Terrance Bell, and 6 great-grandchildren; Carter, Casey, Madison, Lucia, Aaliyah, and Riley June.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Lonnie Thomas.
Shirla was a great mom who enjoyed raising her 3 daughters with Fred by her side. She also was a great homemaker and
