Darlene Weick, age 88, of Washington, IL, passed away March 13, 2025, at her home.
She was born to Walter and Hazel Wilhelm on September 30, 1936, in her Verdon, Nebraska farm home where she spent her childhood. She graduated from Dawson High School in 1954, and then moved to Lincoln Nebraska to study and become a teletype operator.
She married Lewis Weick in 1955, and they began farming in southern Kansas. Their journey into farming began with five years of terrible crop prices, but they persevered together and continued farming until Lew finished his return to college. They moved to Illinois where Darlene began a new venture of homemaker and mother. Once her children were older, she enjoyed collecting antiques and restorable furniture during her weekly garage sale hunts from which she developed several relationships with the area consignment shops.
